Sorry, missed a month again, busy getting things done!

Pokesdown In Bloom 2016 Calendar

The most important thing getting done is our 2016 Pokesdown In Bloom Calendar, with a choice of two front pages (attached)  A snip at £2.50 or if you would like one posted to you £3.50, you can buy online.

On the reverse side of the cover you’ll find listed all the shops from Pokesdown Station to Parkwood Road and short section of Seabourne Road, over Eighty Five! of which Twenty Four are Antique/Vintage and Second Hand Furniture shops. Had there been room we could have included even more furniture outlets between Parkwood and the precinct. If you have friends/customers interested in Antiques and Vintage they’ll find this calendar a useful guide. The calendars can be bought from Pokesdown Post Office 836 and ‘The Attic’ 872 Christchurch Road. The cost of producing the calendars has come from P.C. Forum funds, so please help support and promote Pokesdown by buying one for yourself and friends, they make good birthday/Christmas presents.

Pokesdown Pixie Shop Window/Car Stickers

Our Pokesdown Pixie sticker (left), designed by ‘Definitely Mary’ 889 X’Church Road, will soon be seen on all Pokesdown shop windows.  While stocks last you can collect a free sticker for your car windscreen from ‘The Attic’ and Pokesdown Post Office. Still to be confirmed, the stickers will be paid for out of Local Improvement Funding given to all councillors to spend on local improvements in the community.  Will let you know when ready.

You will remember Tobias Ellwood MP, Cll Andy Jones, Cllr Jane Kelley and Ben Smith met with SWT a few weeks back, the good news is the feasibility study they were told would cost us £30,000 is now being paid for by SWT.  When we have the final figure we can start looking for the money!!

CCTV Camera for Christchurch Road

After years of campaigning and complaints about broken shop windows and anti-social behaviour along Christchurch Road, we are to have a camera placed on the George Fry Electrical corner of Parkwood Road.A big thank you to Cllr Andy Jones, Cllr Gina Mackin, Pokesdown Traders and P.C. Forum for making this happen and for their continuing work with all things Pokesdown.

Police Meetings

On your behalf, P.C. Forum committee members  are to hold regular meetings with PS Colin Neve to discuss problems both residents & traders  may have regarding crime and anti-social behaviour.  Shop Watch Meeting For TradersOn Friday 21st August, there is to be a Breakfast Shop Watch Meeting for traders, starting 8.30 at The Kitchen, 821 X’church Rd to discuss with  Boscombe Shop Watch organizers the possibility of walkie talkies and a security officer for Pokesdown, if you will be attending the meeting or need more information please email Victoria Mixer vmixer@hotmail.com

Calling 101

Although we and the police know there are problems calling 101, PC Neve would like you to still persevere as this is currently the only way official crime figures can be recorded.  You can also report suspicious incidents on the excellent Police Website  www.dorset.police.uk  although an easy way to report incidents your report will not receive the all important incident number so please keep using 101.  Nothing to stop you doing both!

Absent Landlord Shops

We need to once again thank Bournemouth Council’s Housing Officer for her continuing work on our absent landlord shops.  One shop may have been leased, and another is asking for offers, nothing certain on either but thanks to this officers persistence we are at least now communicating with two of them.
